ABOUT

What is an end of life doula?

“End-of-life doulas provide non-medical, holistic support and comfort to the dying person and their family, which may include education and guidance as well as emotional, spiritual or practical care. We value a cultural environment that encourages the potential for healing exchanges between doulas and the dying, the family, and the healthcare team as part of the life-death process. We embrace the need for ethical, compassionate care for all, and emphasize empowering, non-judgmental support to maximize the self-determination of the individual and honor significant others and family as part of the circle of care.”

My approach

As a death (or end of life) doula, I seek to meet clients with both gentleness and strength. Many who are caring for their dying loved ones feel overwhelmed. I offer services to help people navigate the complexities of death by offering comfort, care, and education. In times of profound need, I can provide time, guidance and support to those caring for their loved ones, throughout the dying process. After a loved one has died, I support next steps, from funeral to burial, and wrapping up one’s affairs.

I believe that a relationship to death can transform a person. My background and skills enable me to support people to tap into that power by helping them think about and plan for their own death.

My practice, Eclipse Into Harmony, empowers personal transformation and a deeper embrace of one’s life journey, through a profound connection to end. My goal is to help individuals navigate transformative moments and support them to achieve balance.

I facilitate creative end-of-life planning, provide non-medical respite to caregivers, and orchestrate unique life celebration events.

My background & training

After attaining a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Harding University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan, I spent a decade working in the nonprofit world leading and coordinating programs for older adults. As an aging optimist, I am very invested in being an older person in training. It has been my life’s journey to be in the company of people as they age and I am humbled by the opportunity to support those at the very end.

I am a Going with Grace certified death doula and have been deemed NEDA Proficient by the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance.
